Celebrating 150 Years of Learning and Community
Halling Primary School celebrated a very special milestone on the 15th of May – 150 years since the school first opened its doors.
To mark this incredible occasion, children and staff stepped back in time by dressing in Victorian costumes and taking part in a day full of exciting activities inspired by the school’s rich history.
The celebrations began with a fascinating assembly led by Major Harrison, who shared the history of Halling Primary School and helped everyone learn more about what school life was like 150 years ago.
Following the assembly, Headteacher Ms Taylor gave a special speech and showed the children a copy of an old school log book from Victorian times.
Throughout the day, children took part in a traditional Victorian school drill, enjoyed a picnic with their friends, and participated in a range of games and activities. One of the most memorable moments was the creation of a time capsule. Children contributed their hopes and dreams for the future, alongside special objects and a copy of Ms Taylor’s Victorian-style letter. The capsule will provide a fascinating glimpse into life at Halling Primary School for future generations.
The celebrations also included a dance performance showcasing different eras throughout history. Groups of children performed dances from various time periods, highlighting how music and dance have evolved over the years.
The day was a perfect reflection of everything that makes Halling Primary School such a special place.
The 150th anniversary was a fantastic opportunity to honour Halling Primary School’s past while looking forward to an exciting future. It was a day that pupils, staff, and families will remember for many years to come.
